The Florida Panthers have taken a 3-2 series lead over the Edmonton Oilers in the 2025 NHL Stanley Cup Final, meaning the reigning champions are just one win away from repeating.
The Oilers won Game 1 in overtime via Leon Draisaitl's game winner with 30 seconds left, but the Panthers evened the series with a double-overtime win in Game 2 thanks to Brad Marchand's winner.
Game 3 was not nearly as close. Florida scored less than a minute into the game then doubled their lead late in the first period. Edmonton's Corey Perry answered less than two minutes into the second, but that was the team's only goal of the game. Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett made it 4-1 by the end of the second, and third-period power-play goals from Aaron Ekblad and Evan Rodrigues sealed the 6-1 blowout.
Game 4 was the third game of this series to go into overtime. The Panthers sprinted out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, but Edmonton answered with three of their own in the second. Each team scored once in the third, and Draisaitl scored his second OT winner of the series just over halfway through the extra period.
Game 5 was similar to Game 3 in that it was a lopsided Panthers win. Florida ended up winning 5-2 after building up a 2-0 lead in the first period. Marchand scored twice, and he now leads all players in the series with four goals in five games.
