Emilia Romagna Grand Prix: Picks, Predictions and Odds

McLaren starred again at the Miami Grand Prix two weeks ago, and Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are moving clear of the pack at the top of the World Drivers' Championship standings.

The team recorded one-two finishes in both the sprint race and the grand prix in Florida but while Norris came home first in the Saturday event, Piastri held on to win the main spectacle to stretch his advantage.

Piastri has had a fantastic start to the 2025 season, winning four of the last five races to pull 16 points clear of his teammate with reigning World Champion Max Verstappen a further 16 behind Norris in third place.

The Australian is the favorite to keep his winning streak going as the field heads to Europe for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix in Imola, Italy this weekend.

Rain played an unexpected role in the events in Miami and there is a chance of showers in the forecast for all three days at Imola, although conditions should be mostly dry.

Emilia Romagna Grand Prix betting picks and predictions

Oscar Piastri to win (+125)

Bookmakers had been unable to split the McLaren pair going into the first of the three American races this season, but it's no surprise to see Oscar Piastri's name at the top of the betting odds list for the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix.

The talented young Australian now has more career wins than his more experienced teammate with six victories in his 52 starts compared to five in 134 for Norris.

The British driver appeared to have more pace at times than Piastri in Miami, but once again Piastri had the cleaner weekend, and he still seems more comfortable in the 2025 car than Norris.

There was little between the pair at Imola last season. Norris got the better result as a close runner-up to race winner Max Verstappen with Piastri in fourth, but the Aussie's prospects were hampered by a three-place grid penalty which made him start the race in fifth.

Piastri had been due to start on the front row of the grid, ahead of Norris, but was penalised for impeding Kevin Magnusson in the first qualifying session.

Norris has a strong record at the track, finishing third there in 2021 and 2022 before his second place last year, but Piastri made a solid start last year at a track he had never visited in any junior category.

Red Bull star Verstappen has taken pole in three of the last four rounds, but McLaren appears to have the edge in race conditions and should be targeting another one-two finish.

Kimi Antonelli podium finish (+300)

Kimi Antonelli achieved another milestone in his ascending F1 career when taking pole for the sprint race in Miami at the age of just 18.

The Italian prodigy was an excellent third to Verstappen and Norris in the main qualifying session in Florida, finishing ahead of his Mercedes teammate George Russell in both sessions.

Fourth place in the opening race in Australia is the youngster's best race result so far, and he struggled on the hard-compound tire in the Miami race, but his first podium finish may not be far away.

The Italian should get a boost from racing in front of a home crowd even if he's not driving a Ferrari, and he has experience of driving the track from his junior career.

Russell has managed four podium places in the Mercedes this season, and Antonelli may be able to secure a top-three finish at Imola.

Isack Hadjar points finish (+175)

The other rookie to really catch the eye in F1 this season is Isack Hadjar of the Racing Bulls team.

The French driver made a notorious start to his top-level career when crashing on the formation lap in Melbourne, but he has regularly impressed since then.

Hadjar scored points in Japan and Saudi Arabia before finishing 11th in Miami and his team finished seventh and ninth in qualifying at Imola last year with Yuki Tsunoda coming 10th in the race.

Hadjar won the Formula 2 feature race at Imola last season, so he should have fond memories of the track. He was also on the podium there in Formula 3 in 2022.
