Read the latest betting picks, predictions and odds for the 2024 Chinese Grand Prix in F1.
Max Verstappen was able to bounce back from snapping his nine-race winning streak with a victory at the Japanese Grand Prix and he’ll look to keep the momentum going at the Chinese GP, back on the calendar for the first time since 2019.
Lewis Hamilton was the last winner in China, claiming the spoils ahead of Valtteri Bottas, while Verstappen was in fourth that day.
However, the Dutchman is the star of the sport five years on and it looks like a tough ordeal for any of his rivals to knock him off his perch.
With Verstappen able to get back in the win column last weekend, he is yet again the clear favorite to win this Sunday. It was quite a smooth victory for the Dutchman as well, finishing over 12 seconds in front of Red Bull teammate Sergio Perez.
It’s been a strong start to the season for the Red Bull pair, but the same can be said for Charles Leclerc. After finishing fifth in the 2023 F1 standings, he is proving himself to be worthy of being in the conversations regarding the best drivers in the world.
Currently sitting in third in the 2024 F1 standings, there looks to be every chance Leclerc can have a similar finish this weekend.
Although we haven’t seen the Chinese Grand Prix run in a few years, the Monegasque has had success at this track. When it was last run in 2019, he finished fifth, and it’s safe to say that he has vastly improved since then.
It also doesn’t hurt that he’s finished fourth or better in all four races this season. Consistency is key when it comes to finding value outside of the ridiculously expensive prices on Verstappen, so rather than backing the Dutchman, Leclerc to finish on the podium is a great place to look.
Other than Verstappen’s 2023 dominance, the storyline of the offseason was Hamilton making the transition from Mercedes to Ferrari for the 2025 campaign. It was an absolutely monumental shift in the F1 landscape, as the Brit was once the Verstappen of the sport.
With that in mind, it’s the perfect time to share that he has by far the most wins at the Chinese Grand Prix with six. That includes the most recent running of the race in 2019, and he’s won four of the last six events. Of course, quite a bit has changed since then, but this looks to be the perfect spot for Hamilton to get back on track.
There’s no denying that he has not exactly impressed his new Ferrari teammates through the first four races of 2024. He has yet to sniff a podium finish, and currently sits down in ninth in the overall standings. However, that is what is providing such great plus-money odds on an otherwise great driver.
Once Hamilton gets back on track, we will almost certainly not see such a great payout just for a top-three finish, and the Chinese Grand Prix is the perfect spot for him to do just that.
As mentioned, Verstappen is the overwhelming favorite, as expected. His -600 odds to win outright lead the way, with Red Bull teammate Perez next in line at +900 odds.
Following those two juggernauts is Carlos Sainz, Australia’s winner, and Charles Leclerc, each of whom have +1400 odds to win.
Then, we see another significant price jump with Lando Norris at +4000 followed by George Russell, Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, who are each available at +5000.
