Gareth Southgate's England are well-fancied at this summer’s Euros and will be hoping that their final warm-up fixture, a shock 1-0 loss to Iceland, was nothing more than a timely wake-up call.
Serbia, however, will look at that result and realize that, with their own power-packed forward options, they have a great chance to cause an early upset and blow the group wide open.
England have limped into Germany on the back of a wretched 1-0 loss to Iceland where their famed front-line, one of the most exciting in Europe, failed to click.
The chances of that happening for a second time look pretty remote and with Real Madrid's Jude Bellingham, absent from the Iceland defeat, back to pull the strings behind Harry Kane, expect England to get among the goals against the Serbs in Gelsenkirchen.
Their problem might be at the other end where Serbia boast a front-line with real potential.
England know all about Serbia's chief goal-getter, Aleksandr Mitrovic, his country's record scorer who shone in the English Premier League with Newcastle and Fulham before heading off to the Saudi Pro League where he has been prolific.
And alongside Mitrovic is Dusan Vlahovic, fresh off his best scoring season for Juventus. And if those two don't come off then AC Milan's Luka Jovic is a good man to bring off the bench.
And England's defence is its weakness, of that there's no doubt. Head coach Gareth Southgate is spoiled rotten for attackers but has gaps to plug at the back, especially with first-choice center-back John Stones ill and rusty and regular left-back Luke Shaw unlikely to be involved.
It's going to be a pick-and-mix back line for England and, while Serbia will not get many chances, they have the players to take one or two.
England are -223 to win and that's plenty short enough. Both teams to score is +100 and that is far more attractive.
Serbia, often talked up as dark horses in any major finals, are going under the radar at the Euros after a really unimpressive qualifying campaign in which they finished second in their group behind Hungary.
Subsequent results have been mixed until their final game before leaving for Germany, a sumptuous 3-0 win in Sweden which showed them at their best.
Opening the scoring in Solna was Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, a midfield star who swapped Europe for the Saudi Pro League last summer and is still on the south side of 30, making him one of that league's best imports.
Serie A giants Lazio didn't want to lose Milinkovic-Savic, a player who was twice named in the Serie A Team of the Year during eight seasons in Italy.
His record of 57 goals in 267 Serie A appearances is impressive from midfield and, as demonstrated against Sweden, he retains that eye for goal at international level too. He is +240 to get at least one shot on target and that should be on anyone's shortlist of bets for this game.
England are better on the ball than they were in the days before Gareth Southgate but they won't be completely dominating possession.
They will also look to get the ball forward into Harry Kane as quickly as possible and do their slick passing in and around the opposition box where Jude Bellingham, Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka will be critical.
And Serbia, like most European nations, are a team who preach patience and will keep the ball for periods.
To that end Kieran Trippier, set to appear at left-back in place of Luke Shaw, will be a key figure going forward but won't necessarily be piling up the number of passes he does at club level with Newcastle.
With Newcastle he averages 61.2 passes per game, but with England against Serbia it should be a fair few less.
