It is now time for the final week of the Esports World Cup in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, with a Major Rocket League tournament highlighting the events.
The S-Tier competition gets under way on Thursday and will run until Sunday at the Qiddiya City complex in Riyadh and there is an overall prize pool of $550,000 on the cards.
A total of 16 teams have been invited to the inaugural event, with big guns such as Gentle Mates Alpine, G2 Stride and Gen.G all involved, while Saudi Arabian outfits Team Falcons, Twisted Minds, Gaimin Gladiators and XO Esports will also compete.
It is a competitive betting heat but fans can at least draw some idea of which teams will be in the mix from performances in the two Majors in this year's Rocket League Championship Series.
Gentle Mates Alpine are favorites to win the Rocket League at the Esports World Cup and it is easy to see why.
They reigned supreme at the first Major of the season in Copenhagen back in March and the French outfit are usually at or near the top when it comes to big titles on the Rocket League Circuit.
But at +500, G2 Stride could be a better outright pick given they have been arguably more consistent throughout 2024.
German outfit G2 Stride are the only team this season to reach the finals of both the Major One in Copenhagen and the Major Two in London.
They were beaten 4-2 in Denmark first up but won the UK final 4-1 against Team Falcons as recently as June.
That should do wonders for their confidence heading into this next international event and they look like a fine outright pick.
It is also worth noting that they were untouchable during their Major Two qualifiers throughout May and, with one eye on September's Rocket League Championship Series World Championship, they can impress in Saudi Arabia.
From Gentle Mate Alpine to Gen.G, it is a bold move to oppose any of the big guns in this event, but aside from G2 Stride, the next best outright pick could be Team Falcons.
First of all, Team Falcons has a real advantage with this Esports World Cup competition taking place in their home country, so they should have plenty of support and be in high spirits.
They are the best of the Saudi contingent heading into this Rocket League event and they have already shown promise on the circuit in 2024.
As mentioned, they were surprise runners-up at the Major Two in London earlier this year, having won all of their matches in the Swiss Stage.
They then went on to beat giants Gen.G 4-1 and Gentle Mate Alpine 4-3 in the playoffs before running out of steam in the final against G2 Stride.
That was an impressive run and they have since followed it with title wins in a couple of B-Tier events such as the Saudi eLeague 2024 Major 3 and the Esports World Cup 2024 Community Cup.
Form is on their side and the crowds should be too, so they could be a value selection at +550.
