The regular season of this year's Call of Duty League is drawing to a close but before the top eight teams turn their attention to the end-of-season Championship next month, the winner of the season's fifth and final Major must be crowned.
Major Five at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto continues at a furious pace this weekend with another three key contests taking place on Saturday.
First up is an important battle in the elimination bracket between New York Subliners and Las Vegas Legion, who are looking to break into the top eight of the overall standings at the death and secure a Championship berth.
The day's other two matches both take place in the winners' bracket with Minnesota ROKKR up against Florida Mutineers and Atlanta FaZe taking on tournament hosts Toronto Ultra.
The winner of each of those matches will progress to the winners' final and be one step away from the Major Five Grand Final.
What | New York Subliners vs Las Vegas Legion |
Where | Mattamy Athletic Centre, Toronto, Canada |
When | 13:30 ET, Saturday May 27th |
How to watch | Call of Duty League Twitch & Youtube channels |
Odds | New York Subliners -250, Las Vegas Legion +175 |
With the end-of-season Call of Duty Championship taking place in their own city, Las Vegas Legion will be desperate to qualify.
Only the top eight teams in the overall CDL standings will feature in the Championship next month and the first seven spots have been secured with only eighth still up for grabs.
Either Seattle Surge or Las Vegas Legion will take the final spot and Legion have the added advantage of still being in the event unlike Surge, so they can control their own destiny.
Beating New York Subliners would go some way to securing that berth but they are +175 to do so.
That price could, however, be underestimating Legion, who beat Seattle Surge 3-0 last time out in the elimination bracket and they matched New York Subliners in Major Five qualifying, with both teams winning three and losing two of their five matches.
As part of that campaign, Las Vegas actually beat New York 3-2 and this one could again go the distance, so back over 4.5 maps at +162.
What | Minnesota ROKKR vs Florida Mutineers |
Where | Mattamy Athletic Centre, Toronto, Canada |
When | 15:00 ET, Saturday May 27th |
How to watch | bet365 Sports Live Streaming / Call of Duty League Twitch & Youtube channels |
Odds | Minnesota ROKKR -110, Florida Mutineers -125 |
Florida Mutineers will not feature in the end-of-season Call of Duty League Championship and, as they are set to merge with Heretics in the offseason to become Miami Heretics next year, this Major is the last we will see of the team.
But they look determined to make an impact in their swansong Major, having stunned the competition with a 3-0 thrashing of red-hot OpTic Texas in their opening match of the winners' bracket.
They were also pretty handy during qualifying for Major Five, finishing with a 3-2 win-loss record, and at -125, they could be a decent bet to see off Minnesota ROKKR, who were pushed close in a 3-2 win over Boston Breach last time out.
What | Atlanta FaZe vs Toronto Ultra |
Where | Mattamy Athletic Centre, Toronto, Canada |
When | 16:30 ET, Saturday May 27th |
How to watch | bet365 Sports Live Streaming / Call of Duty League Twitch & Youtube channels |
Odds | Atlanta FaZe -175, Toronto Ultra +125 |
Toronto Ultra will be feeling the pressure in their home Major, even if they are already assured of a place in next month's Championship, and they face the ultimate test against Atlanta FaZe in their next contest.
Ultra did not have things all their own way in their winners' bracket opener against New York Subliners but they came through as 3-2 winners to set up an intriguing clash with FaZe, who swept aside Las Vegas Legion 3-0 last time out.
FaZe lead the way in the overall CDL standings, having finished runner-up in the competition last year, and, like Ultra, they have one Major title to their name in 2023.
Atlanta have arguably been the most consistent team in CDL this year but they could be pushed close in this one and a 3-1 win for FaZe could make an appeal at +350.
