Things are about to heat up in the world of League of Legends, with each region approaching their summer tournaments, starting with EMEA's LEC Summer.
The LEC Summer is the third split of the year for teams in Europe, the Middle East and Africa. It is set to take place in Germany, starting on Saturday, June 8.
In its second season following a format change, the LEC Summer will feature ten teams competing in a single round-robin group stage before the top eight progress to the playoffs.
The playoffs will take a double-elimination bracket format and the top three teams will book their places at the LEC Season Finals at the end of the year, while the champions will also secure a spot at the League of Legends World Championship 2024.
So far in 2024 both the LEC Winter and the LEC Spring went the way of G2 Esports, who are the dominant force in League of Legends in Europe right now.
And they are again expected to dominate this summer at -250 to win the event.
But Fnatic are also in contention at +550 and the LEC Summer is sure to throw up a few surprises along the way.
There is not a great deal of value when it comes to betting on LEC Summer 2024.
As mentioned, G2 Esports are red-hot favourites to win the overall event and for good reason but punters may want to take a chance on Fnatic to win at +550.
G2 Esports won the LEC Winter and the LEC Spring, but Fnatic showed signs of promise in both of those splits.
In the winter, they pushed G2 Esports close in a 2-1 defeat when they met in the upper-bracket semifinals in the playoff stage.
As for the LEC Spring, Fnatic matched G2's record of six wins from nine matches during the regular season, even beating the tournament favourites in their meeting back in March.
Fnatic managed to reach the Grand Final, losing to G2 Esports 3-1 on that occasion.
Along with G2 Esports, Fnatic were one of two sides to represent the EMEA region at the Mid-Season Invitational - the first international event of the year in League of Legends.
They managed to get out of their group before failing to impress in the bracket stage but finished in the 7th-9th positions, not far behind G2 Esports in fourth.
The bottom line is G2 Esports are the stronger side and have shown the better form throughout 2024.
But Fnatic are also enjoying a decent season and look the most likely to capitalise on any slip-ups from G2 Esports at the LEC Summer.
The gulf in prices between G2 Esports and Fnatic is arguably bigger than it should be, so it could be worth taking a chance on the underdogs.
The outright betting opportunities are limited at the LEC Summer beyond picking Fnatic to upset the odds and, with that in mind, as the first batch of matches approaches, punters should look at Team BDS to beat Team Vitality at -110.
This really is a match which could swing either way but Team BDS are the ones to back.
Vitality were slightly better during the group stage at the LEC Spring, winning six of their nine matches, whereas Team BDS won five of their nine assignments.
But Team BDS burst into life in the bracket stage of the split and beat Vitality 2-1 in the upper-bracket semi-finals.
That secured them a spot in the upper-bracket final but they were beaten 3-1 by G2 Esports before a 3-2 defeat to Fnatic in the lower-bracket final.
Nonetheless, they secured third spot in the competition overall and it is therefore no shock that they are third favourites to go the distance in the event.
For now, though, a simple bet on Team BDS to beat Team Vitality is the way to go.
