League of Legends LCK Summer: Picks, Predictions and Odds

It is that time of the year when all the major League of Legends divisions across the globe reach their summer seasons and Wednesday marks the start of the LCK Summer 2024 in South Korea.

The LCK remains a leading division in the Esport with T1 as the defending world champions and Gen.G Esports fresh from winning the Mid-Season Invitational in May.

They have a serious presence on the international scene and the division is renowned for producing world-class players such as iconic mid-laner Lee 'Faker' Sang-hyeok.

As always, the first stage of the competition is a double round-robin group stage before progressing to the double-elimination playoffs.

The S-Tier event - the top level - features 10 teams and the winners will qualify directly for this year's League of Legends World Championship.

Unsurprisingly, Gen.G lead the way in the outright betting at +100 and they are closely followed by T1 at +225.

Other potential competitors include Hanwha Life Esports (+650), Dplus KIA (+1000) and KT Rolster (+1200).

Let's get into our picks and predictions for the competition.

League of Legends LCK Summer betting picks and predictions

Gen.G to win LCK Summer 2024 (+100)

It is a cardinal sin in betting to avoid the obvious and even at a quote of +100, Gen.G Esports look a wise pick to win the LCK Summer 2024.

Gen.G were untouchable in the regular stage of the LCK Spring earlier this year, winning 17 of their 18 matches and prevailing in 34 of their 39 completed games.

They went into the LCK Spring Playoffs on an 11-game winning run and they did not relent, easing past Dplus KIA, Hanwha Life Esports and, in the Grand Final, T1 to lift the trophy.

That secured them a spot in the League of Legends Mid-Season Invitational, in which they were up against the best teams across regions such as China and EMEA.

But again Gen.G barely broke a sweat, remaining solely in the upper bracket with wins over Fnatic, Top Esports and Bilibili Gaming, who they defeated in both the upper-bracket final and the Grand Final to secure the tournament win.

Gen.G scooped $50,000 for that tournament success and are assured of a place in the World Championship, so they do not even really need to win the LCK Summer.

But they are serial winners and not only are they the best team in South Korea right now, they are the best team in the world.

There really is not much to analyse - Gen.G have a loaded roster, form on their side and a relentless winning mentality, so they cannot be opposed, even at shorter odds of +100.

T1 to win LCK Summer 2024 (+225)

For those really reluctant to back the favourites at the LCK Summer 2024, there is also an argument to be made for T1.

T1 are another team with winning in their DNA and the influence of world-class talent 'Faker' should never be underestimated.

They placed second in the initial phase of the LCK Spring before reaching the Grand Final in the playoffs and they pushed Gen.G close in a 3-2 defeat.

That earned them a play-in spot at the Mid-Season Invitational and they crushed both Estral Esports and FlyQuest to make the main draw.

In the main bracket, they were knocked down to the lower bracket by Bilibili Gaming, who ended their campaign in the equivalent of the lower-bracker final.

Nonetheless, T1 secured third spot at the MSI - a position not to be sniffed at - and if Gen.G Esports show any signs of faltering at the LCK Summer this year, T1 will almost definitely capitalise.

Form in recent tournaments and T1's wobble at the MSI point to a Gen.G Esports win at the LCK Summer but weirder things have happened in this Esport than a T1 triumph and they could be worth chancing at more than double the price of their main competitors.

There is a significant jump to Hanwha Life Esports at +650, and punters are advised to stick with the two market leaders as the LCK Summer approaches.
