The final top-tier Dota 2 event of the year is the Dota 2 ESL One Bangkok in Thailand, featuring 12 of the best Dota 2 teams from across the globe all battling it out for a total prize pool of $1 million.
The eagerly-awaited event also represents the last chance for teams to pick up EPT Leaderboard points.
These points are crucial for Dota 2 organizations as they can help secure qualification for the next ESL One and DreamLeague tournaments.
Four of the 12 teams involved - Team Falcons, BB Team, Team Spirit and PARIVISION - received direct invites to the event, while the other eight booked their places as regional winners in areas such as Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China and North America.
When the event gets underway on Monday, December 9th, the teams will start by competing in a group stage with the top two in each of the two sections progressing directly to the playoffs, which the teams finishing third and fourth will also enter via the lower bracket.
Two teams will be eliminated from each of Group A and B prior to the playoffs, so it is all to play for from the start.
And the tournament's playoff stage will take place in front of a live audience at Bangkok's Royal Paragon Hall in Thailand.
It does not get much bigger than this in the world of Dota 2 and there are some decent betting opportunities ahead of it starting later in December.
The betting for the Dota 2 ESL One Bangkok suggests it is a straight shootout between Team Falcons and Team Liquid and it is hard to argue with that assertion.
While Team Falcons were one of the four teams invited directly to the event, Team Liquid booked their spot in the competition via a fine performance in the Western Europe Closed Qualifier.
Liquid came out on top in that event and can also draw confidence from the fact they won the highly coveted The International 2024 as recently as September.
But despite that success, they are arguably not the in-form team coming into this event.
Team Falcons have also excelled recently, finishing fourth at The International 2024 but following that up with titles at the Dacha Belgrade and season 24 of DreamLeague.
They also won seasons 22 and 23 of DreamLeague earlier in the year and, most crucially, they know how to perform in an ESL One tournament.
In April this year, they were crowned champions in the ESL One Birmingham 2024 - an event in which Team Liquid could only place in the fifth-sixth positions.
In 2024, Team Falcons have won six different Tier One events, showing that they are the organization for the big occasion and they can once again perform at the highest level of international Dota 2 by claiming the ESL One Bangkok title.
Team Liquid would be a viable second pick for bettors wagering on the ESL One Bangkok but at +800, Team Spirit might be of interest as an outside selection.
Team Spirit were also one of the four directly invited organizations and, while a major tournament triumph has eluded them for some time, they can be competitive.
Only last month they secured third spot in season 24 of DreamLeague, while they were fourth at the Dacha Belgrade 2024 - another Tier One tournament.
Their ninth-12th position at The International tempers enthusiasm about their chances in this competition but they have been progressing since that September event and could give bettors a decent run for their money in Thailand.
