The 2023 Call of Duty League season is underway and qualifying for the campaign's first Major is nearly complete.

Major One in this season's Call of Duty League is set to take place in Raleigh, North Carolina with 16 teams competing.

Twelve of those are the established Call of Duty League outfits and the other four will be Challenger outfits.

The Major begins on Wednesday, December 14th, and we will have a clearer idea of how the 12 established teams will be seeded after the final batch of qualifying matches on Sunday.

The likes of Minnesota ROKKR, Boston Breach, OpTic Texas and Toronto Ultra are all flying high, whereas it has been a jolting start to the campaign for basement side Las Vegas Legion as well as Florida Mutineers, LA Guerrillas and Seattle Surge.

Performances in Major One can set the tone for the season and teams will want to give themselves the best chance of success by securing a decent seed in qualifying.

Here is a look at three of the qualifiers taking place on Sunday.

ROKKR can maintain winning run in Major One qualifying

Fans of Minnesota ROKKR could hardly have asked for a better start to the Call of Duty League season.

The team claimed a controversial win in their opener, beating OpTic Texas, who forfeited the game after refusing to go into a replay.

They were asked to replay the game after ROKKR's "Cammy" encountered a scorestreak bug but insisted they did not want to and consequently lost the points.

But Minnesota did not dwell too much on the controversial nature of that win, following it up with victories over Toronto Ultra in week one and Florida Mutineers in their first match of week two.

Next up for ROKKR are Las Vegas Legion, formerly Paris Legion, who have made a hopeless start to the campaign with three defeats from three qualifiers.

They have a -6 map differential in qualifying for Major One, are adjusting to a new-look roster and are worth opposing in this one.

However, the best value could be in backing Minnesota at -1.5 on the match handicap at +110.

Toronto should have the edge against steady Seattle

Seattle Surge got back to winning ways at the start of week two, defeating London Royal Ravens 3-1, but they sustained defeats to Boston Breach and LA Guerrillas in week one and punters should not rush to back them against Toronto Ultra.

Surge tried to keep things simple this season, keeping the same roster as last campaign and resigning head coach "Fenix".

That makes sense given they placed a respectable fifth in the overall Call of Duty League 2022 standings, although Toronto were only five points off them and have made the better start to the 2023 campaign.

Ultra have a 2-1 record in qualifying for Major One, most recently edging big guns Atlanta FaZe 3-2 and it is understandable that they are -138 to follow that with victory over Seattle.

However, Toronto's map differential is only +1 and this could be a close battle so bettors may want to split stakes across a 3-1 win for Ultra at +375 and a 3-2 win at +300.

Thieves and OpTic can run each other close

LA Thieves and OpTic Texas look tough to separate going into their final qualifying match for Major One.

There will be many eyes on how OpTic Texas perform when Major One starts next week given they won the first Major of the 2022 campaign, while LA Thieves are the defending Call of Duty League champions, having beaten Atlanta FaZe in the Grand Final a matter of months ago.

These are two heavyweights of Call of Duty League and while Texas have a 2-1 record after three games, the Thieves have one win and one defeat to their name.

It could be one that goes the distance and over 4.5 maps is worth a bet at +150.
