The Edmonton Oilers can punch their ticket to the third round of the NHL playoffs with a victory Wednesday night in Vegas.

Edmonton took a commanding 3-1 lead in its best-of-seven series with the Golden Knights after a dominant 3-0 win Monday in Game 4 on home ice.

Stuart Skinner, who lost the starting goaltender job to Calvin Pickard earlier this postseason due to his poor play, stopped all 23 of the shots he faced to claim the shutout and redeem himself in a crucial spot. Skinner, who took an ugly 5.36 postseason GAA into the contest, was called back into action after Pickard suffered an injury earlier in the series.

Adam Henrique netted two goals for Edmonton in the victory, and Connor McDavid picked up an assist to extend his points streak to eight games. McDavid leads the Oilers with 17 points (three goals, 14 assists), but he trails Dallas’s Mikko Rantanen by two for the overall playoff lead. Rantanen is the favorite to win the Conn Smythe Award as playoff MVP at +375 odds, while McDavid is knocking at the door at +450.
