Read the latest betting pick, predictions, odds, and player props for Edmonton Oilers vs. Dallas Stars Game 2 in the NHL Playoffs, courtesy of our friends at Daily Faceoff.
The Stars will have a chance to take a commanding 2-0 series lead on Friday night when they host the Oilers in Game 2 of the Western Conference Final.
Dallas trailed 3-1 in Game 1 after two periods, but the Stars exploded for five goals in the third period to claim a 6-3 victory and their seventh consecutive home win this postseason.
Dallas, which went 0-for-14 on power plays over six games in the West final against the Oilers last year, scored three times on the power play in the final period of Game 1 and went 3-for-4 with the man advantage in the contest.
The Oilers dominated through the first two periods, outshooting the Stars 20-13 while owning a 62.8 percent expected goal share in the first and a 60.4 percent expected goal share in the second at five-on-five play.
After posting back-to-back shutouts to close out the Vegas Golden Knights, Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner stopped just 22 of the 27 shots he faced in Game 1 against the Stars. He’s now 2-4 with a 3.39 GAA and .872 SV% in these playoffs. Aside from his two shutouts, Skinner has allowed four goals or more in each of his other four starts. The wildly inconsistent netminder also now owns a subpar .892 SV% in 41 career playoff appearances.
Stars forward Mikko Rantanen remains the favorite (+350) to capture the Conn Smythe Trophy after recording an assist in Game 1 to increase his league-leading points total to 20 this postseason. Edmonton’s Connor McDavid, who has the third-shortest odds at +500, notched two assists in Game 1 to increase his playoff points total to 19.
With the win in Game 1, Dallas now has -190 odds to win the series, while the Oilers are now +160 underdogs after opening with -120 odds prior to the series opener.
