The New York Jets lost to the AFC East rival Buffalo Bills on Monday Night Football to fall to 2-4, and as a result, they traded for three-time first-team All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams on Tuesday morning, according to reports.
The trade sees Adams reunite with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Adams caught passes from Rodgers for the first eight years of the wideout's career, when the two played for the Green Bay Packers.
Adams was named a first-team All-Pro in his last two years with Rodgers as his QB, and he caught 669 passes for 8,121 yards and 73 TDs during their time together in the NFC North.
He also earned an All-Pro nod with the Las Vegas Raiders. The Jets shipped a conditional third-round pick to Vegas to acquire the star WR.
Now, the two have ground to make up in the AFC East. Adams joins a Jets team that is mired in third place in the division, one game ahead of the lowly New England Patriots and half a game behind the Miami Dolphins, who have been without their starting QB for most of the season.
The Jets' offense currently ranks 22nd in both points and yards. Rodgers ranks 26th out of 31 qualified QBs in completion percentage (61.8 percent), and he has thrown more interceptions than Daniel Jones, Deshaun Watson, and Trevor Lawrence in the same number of games.
Things should pick up with Rodgers getting a trusted target to throw to, so let's take a look at the Jets' odds after the trade for Adams and ahead of Week 7 of the 2024 NFL Season.
