For the second time in less than a year, Davante Adams is searching for a new NFL team.
The six-time Pro Bowl wide receiver was cut by the New York Jets on Tuesday, less than five months after being traded to team up with ex-Green Bay Packers teammate Aaron Rodgers.
With Rodgers and Adams, the Jets went 3-8 to finish with a 5-12 record and miss the playoffs for a 14th straight season, the longest active drought in the NFL.
Despite the Jets’ underachieving season, there is no doubt that Adams, 32, still offers plenty of value to any contending team.
Let’s take a look at where Adams could end up next.
GB Packers | +250 |
LA Chargers | +500 |
SF 49ers | +750 |
LA Rams | +900 |
DEN Broncos | +1000 |
NE Patriots | +1000 |
NY Giants | +1000 |
PIT Steelers | +1000 |
HOU Texans | +1400 |
BUF Bills | +1600 |
KC Chiefs | +1600 |
BAL Ravens | +1800 |
The Green Bay Packers are favored at +250 to land Adams.
This seems like the most sensible fit for Adams, who spent his first eight NFL seasons with the Packers. Drafted by Green Bay in the second round of the 2014 draft, Adams went on to become one of the best wide receivers in the history of a franchise that has been around for more than a century.
Not only would it be a homecoming for the former Packer, but Green Bay is in need of a ‘No. 1’ wide receiver to help out franchise QB Jordan Love in 2025.
Three California teams – the Chargers (+500), 49ers (+750) and Rams (+900) – are shorter than 10/1.
Adams grew up and attended college in California at Fresno State, so it would make sense if the veteran wide out favors a return to his home state.
Like the Packers, all three franchises could use a star WR after falling short in 2024.
The Chargers leaned on rookie Ladd McConkey to lead the receiver room in 2024, the Niners lost top target Deebo Samuel to the Commanders, and the Rams are expected to trade Cooper Kupp ahead of the new season.
The Broncos, Patriots, Giants and Steelers are all tied in the betting at +1000.
Denver and New England make sense as both have room to build their rosters around second-year QBs Bo Nix and Drake Maye, who both look to be franchise quarterbacks for their respective teams.
New York and Pittsburgh don’t have bonafide starters at the time of writing, but could opt for Rodgers, who could then lure Adams to his team just as he did to the Jets in 2024.
Perennial contenders Houston (+1400), Buffalo (+1600), Kansas City (+1600) and Baltimore (+1800) all have a case to land Adams, too, if the veteran is looking for his best chance to win a ring before he retires.
