After reaching the semifinals at the recent WTA Rome tournament played on clay, American Danielle Collins has the fifth-shortest odds to win the 2024 French Open.
At +1800 with the tournament starting on May 26, the only women's players with shorter odds than Collins are Iga Swiatek at -163, Aryna Sabalenka - the woman who beat Collins in Rome - at +450, American Coco Gauff at +800, and Elena Rybakina at +1000.
In Rome, Collins beat World No. 23 Carolina Garcia and World No. 24 Victoria Azarenka each in straight sets.
Collins has lost to Sabalenka twice in her past two tournaments, but she won the Charleston Open in early April, beating Daria Kasatkina in the final after beating then-World No. 7 Maria Sakkari and then-World No. 6 Ons Jabeur.
The American also won the Miami Open this year, beating then-World No. 4 Elena Rybakina in the final.
In March, Collins lost in straight sets to World No. 1 Iga Swiatek at Indian Wells, but she beat Naomi Osaka in straight sets in Abu Dhabi in February.
Thus far, 2024 has seen more ups than downs for Collins, who has won as many tournaments in 2024 as she had in her entire career before this year.
