Read the latest betting pick, predictions and odds for the Dallas Stars (45-21-4) vs. Edmonton Oilers (41-24-5) in the NHL, courtesy of our friends at Daily Faceoff.
The Edmonton Oilers return from a three-day break on Wednesday, but their injury situation remains unchanged. Captain Connor McDavid and Hart Trophy favorite Leon Draisaitl are still out, with Draisaitl having missed two games and McDavid one. Both are expected to be sidelined for a while longer.
Edmonton managed to win its first game without them, edging the Seattle Kraken 5-4. Adam Henrique opened the scoring with his first goal since early March, while Ryan Nugent-Hopkins stepped up with a hat trick. Nugent-Hopkins now has four goals and two assists in his last three games, and Jeff Skinner added his third goal in two games.
Saturday’s win was a solid start, but it came against a below-average Kraken team. Wednesday’s matchup will be a much tougher test, as the Oilers face one of the NHL’s best teams—the Dallas Stars. The teams have split their two meetings this season, making this their final regular season matchup.
Dallas hasn’t been playing well at five-on-five over the last month, either. According to Evolving Hockey, Dallas ranks 22nd in shot attempts and 20th in expected goals at five-on-five since Feb. 22. Not to mention, they’ve been playing .500 hockey since the trade deadline, as Mikko Rantanen has scored two goals and three assists in eight games. However, the Stars are looking for their third win in a row, and one player that has stepped up is defenseman Thomas Harley.
Harley has registered at least a point in 14 of his last 20 games, tallying eight goals and 14 assists in total. Therefore, Harley is a good bet to register at least one point at -115 odds.
