The Edmonton Oilers simply dominated Game 3 of this best-of-seven series, skating to a 6-1 victory on home ice, and now they’ll have a chance to put the Stars on life support with another home win on Tuesday.

With three assists in Game 3, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins has now recorded a multi-point effort in each game of this Western Conference Final, becoming the only Oiler in franchise history besides Wayne Gretzky to accomplish that feat in a conference final. Nugent-Hopkins, who has at least one point in eight of his last 10 games,  is -150 to record over 0.5 points and +330 to notch two or more.

And we can’t mention the Oilers without checking in on Connor McDavid, who netted an efficient two goals on two shots in Game 3 to increase his league-leading points total to 21 in these playoffs. He now has two goals and three assists in this series to push well ahead of Dallas’s Mikko Rantanen as the frontrunner for the Conn Smythe Trophy with short +190 odds. 

After recording a shutout in Game 2, streaky Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner was spectacular again in Game 3, stopping 33 of the 34 shots he faced. He struggled mightily to open the postseason and was replaced by backup Calvin Pickard, who then suffered an injury to force Skinner back into the net. Pickard is on the mend and back practicing with the team ahead of Game 4, which means he could be available for backup duties shortly.

Jake Oettinger, who was solid in goal for the Stars through the opening two rounds of the playoffs, has stumbled in this series, allowing 12 goals across the first three games. He’s still saved 4.4 goals above expected in these playoffs, though, ranking fifth amongst goaltenders.
