Dallas Stars vs. Colorado Avalanche Game 4: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

The Dallas Stars may not have made the best of starts against the Colorado Avalanche but they hit back well and now have the opportunity to take real control of the series when they head to the Ball Arena for Game 4 on Monday night.

The Avs recovered from being 3-0 down after the first period to take the opening game in overtime, winning 4-3, before the Stars fended off a Colorado fightback to level the series in Game 2, winning 5-3 with an empty net goal, having been 4-0 up going into the third period.

In Saturday night's Game 3, Dallas showed the sort of form that took it to the top seeding in the Western Conference as it ran out a 4-1 winner to go 2-1 up in the series.

Colorado now hope home ice will be an advantage as it looks to level up the series in Denver before it goes back on the road to Dallas on Wednesday for Game 5.

Dallas Stars vs. Colorado Avalanche Game 4 betting picks and predictions

Dallas Stars ML (+115)

The Dallas Stars may have lost the first game of the series but let's not forget they were 3-0 up after the first period, while they went 4-0 up in Game 2 before withstanding Colorado's recovery mission to level the series.

Both of those games were of course at the American Airlines Center but they demonstrated why they finished as top seeds in the West with what was almost the perfect game in Game 3 at the Ball Arena.

Dallas weathered the early pressure, capitalised on chances that came their way, kept a free-scoring offense at bay for much of the game before adding a couple of late empty-net goals to secure the win.

It helped that Jake Oettinger had a big night in goal, saving 29 of 30 shots for a save percentage of .967, but the game plan for Monday will be something similar and they look good value to repeat the feat at +115.

The Avs are likely to be fired up and are understandable favorites, particularly given the fact that they boasted the best home record in the regular season with 31 wins, but the Stars enjoyed the best record on the road and have just won in Denver.

Oettinger finding his better form is another reason as the advantage in goaltending appears to be with Dallas and the visitors look good value at +115 to go back to back at Ball Arena.

Taking on Colorado at home is not without risk of course but their renowned offense misfired on Saturday night and confidence may not be what it should be.

Thomas Harley to hit three shots on goal milestone (+215)

There is no doubting that there will be plenty of offensive talent on show at the Ball Arena, and there should be no shortage of shots on goal, particularly from the home side as that is their greater strength.

However, don't expect the Stars to be resting on their laurels just because they are leading the series, and there are plenty of candidates in the player props shots on goal milestone market ready to test arguably the Avalanche's weakest link, goaltender Alexandar Georgiev.

One player who looks a little underrated at the odds is Dallas defenseman, Thomas Harley, who has shown throughout this series that he is not afraid to let fly from the blue line.

The 22-year-old only had 12 shots on goal in the seven-game series against the Vegas Golden Knights in the first round, but he already has nine after the first three games against Colorado.

Harley made a quiet start to the series with just two shots on goal in Game 1 but doubled that in Game 2, while he enjoyed another three in Saturday night's 4-1 win in Denver.

At odds of +215 to hit the three-shots-on-goal milestone, he looks well worthy of consideration to match his series average.

Valeri Nichushkin Anytime Goalscorer (+145)

Colorado will be desperate to bounce back on Monday night to avoid falling into a 3-1 hole before the series returns to Dallas on Wednesday, and Jared Bednar will be demanding more from his big guns.

The likes of Nathan MacKinnon and Mikko Rantanen, along with star defenseman Cale Makar, will no doubt be stealing a lot of the focus, but that allows others to fly under the radar.

Valeri Nichushkin has had a quiet start to the series but he remains comfortably clear at the top of Colorado's goalscoring charts in the playoffs, having netted nine - with Artturi Lehkonen next best with five.

That tally is also good enough to tie for the top across the NHL this postseason and at +145 odds on home ice with his team desperate to win, he looks appealing to register his 10th goal of the playoffs.
