Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves: 2024 NBA Playoffs Western Conference Finals series odds

The Dallas Mavericks, with arguably the NBA's top guard duo, will meet the league's top defensive team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, in the 2024 Western Conference Finals.

Dallas entered the playoffs as the West's fifth seed, and they beat higher-seeded teams in the No. 4 Los Angeles Clippers and top-seeded Oklahoma City Thunder to advance to the Conference Finals.

Minnesota finished with one fewer regular season win than the top two West seeds, the Thunder and reigning champion Denver Nuggets. They beat the Phoenix Suns in a sweep and the Nuggets in seven games to get to this point.

The Mavs were around the league average in key stats including field goal percentage and three-point field goal percentage, but they take care of the ball, draw lots of fouls and take and make plenty of three-point shots under head coach Jason Kidd.

The T-Wolves are led by coach Chris Finch, but Micah Nori has taken the lead on the sideline as Finch recovers from a knee injury suffered when T-Wolves point guard Mike Conley collided with him during a game.

Minny's defense is its key to success: the team allowed the fewest points in the NBA at 106.5 per game while also holding opponents to a league-low 45 percent field goal percentage. They're anchored by Defensive Player of the Year Rudy Gobert on that end; on offense, guard Anthony Edwards has blossomed into a superstar.
