Dallas Mavericks vs. Boston Celtics Game 5: Picks, Predictions, Odds and Player Props

Game 5 of the NBA Finals takes place on Monday evening, as the Dallas Mavericks head back to Boston looking to stay alive in the best-of-seven series.

An impressive win in Game 4 gave the Mavericks some hope of comeback, but the Boston Celtics' record on their home court will make the hosts strong favorites.

One more win is all the Celtics need to claim the franchise their 18th championship and draw level with the rival Los Angeles Lakers.

Dallas Mavericks vs. Boston Celtics Game 5 betting picks and predictions

Celtics -6.5 (-110)

Although the Mavericks cruised to a 38-point victory in Game Four, Dallas coach Jason Kidd admitted afterwards that they needed their A-Game to beat the Celtics.

Despite the impressive Game Four win, the odds are still well and truly stacked against the Mavericks, who are looking to become the first team to come from 3-0 down to win the NBA Finals.

At one stage, Dallas were 41 points in front and both teams decided to rest players in the final quarter to try to keep them fresh for Monday’s clash at TD Garden.

That may have helped the Boston cause and Joe Mazzulla will expect a reaction from his men on the return to their home court.

The Celtics, who had won 10 play-off games in a row prior to Saturday, lost just four times at home in the regular season and have been beaten only twice in 10 play-off games at the Garden.

Success in Game Four was the first time Dallas had beaten Boston in six meetings this season. The Celtics’ five wins have been by at least seven points and it could be a similar scenario on Monday night.

Jayson Tatum Over 27.5 Points (-110)

After another stellar season, Jayson Tatum is in the running to be named NBA Finals MVP and he could achieve that in Game Five.

The five-time NBA All-Star was one of the big names given some bench time on Saturday and he should be fresh and raring to go for Monday.

Tatum has yet to lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy, but the 26-year-old has the perfect opportunity to do that and end the Celtics’ 16-year wait for another title.

The man from Missouri scored 31 points in Game Three and in the two regular season match-ups, he fired 39 and 32 against the Mavericks.

Both Teams to Score 100 Points (+110)

There hasn’t been an occasion in the opening four games of the series where both teams have scored triple figures, but that could change on Monday.

Games Two and Three came close, with the Celtics winning 105-98 and 106-99, and with everything on the line at TD Garden, expect a high-scoring clash.

In the Celtics' Eastern Conference Finals series with the Indiana Pacers both teams scored 100+ points in all four games, while all five games in the West between Dallas and the Minnesota Timberwolves also saw both teams hit the 100-point mark.

Luka Doncic found his shooting boots on Saturday, firing 29 points, and the Mavericks will know that the Slovenian will need to be on top form to give them a chance of extending the series.
