Cruz will come into this fight with a professional boxing record of 26-2-1. He broke into professional boxing in March of 2015, winning his first five fights in a row. Cruz suffered his first loss in February of 2016, but quickly bounced back with six consecutive wins before fighting to a draw in September of 2017. 

Following the draw, Cruz won 11 fights in a row. This winning streak opened up the opportunity for Cruz to challenge Gervonta Davis for the WBA Lightweight title in December of 2021.

Ultimately, Cruz lost this title fight, but since then, he has won the vacant WBO Intercontinental Lightweight title (April 2022), the vacant WBC Silver Lightweight title (September 2022), the vacant WBO Latino Lightweight title (July 2023), and most recently, the WBA Super Lightweight title (March 2024).

Over the course of this boxing career, Cruz has won 18 fights by knockout, eight by decision and both of his losses were by decision with one fight ending in a draw.

Jose Valenzuela record

Valenzuela will come into this fight with a professional boxing record of 13-2. He made his boxing debut in September of 2018 and started his career with 11 straight wins.

This win streak allowed him to challenge for the vacant WBC Continental Americas Lightweight title in April of 2022. Valenzuela won this title fight, but in his first title defense in September of 2022, he lost to Edwin De Los Santos. 

After losing his title, Valenzuela lost again to Chris Colbert in March of 2023, but avenged this loss in December of 2023 when he beat Colbert by knockout in the rematch.

Valenzuela has won a total of nine fights by knockout in his career with four wins coming by decision. Of his two losses, one was by knockout and the other was by decision.
