The Canberra Raiders have been hit by the news Jarrod Croker will miss the remainder of the 2022 NRL campaign after being told he needs further surgery on his shoulder.
The Raiders are priced at 21/10 to finish in the top eight of the NRL and play finals but their chances of making it have been hit by the news Croker will play no further part.
The 31-year-old first picked up the shoulder injury in the round nine clash against the Canterbury Bulldogs, his first appearance of the season, before suffering a setback while at home last week.
He bizarrely dislocated the shoulder again while reaching for the TV remote at home and now needs further surgery which will unfortunately curtail his season.
Panthers show strength in Bulldogs win
The club broke the news via a statement on their official website.
The statement read: “Canberra Raiders Captain Jarrod Croker will miss the remainder of the season after scans revealed he will require surgery on his injured shoulder.
“Croker injured his shoulder against the Bulldogs in round nine and was hopeful of returning last weekend, but a reoccurrence of the injury will see him undergo surgery in the coming weeks.”
Croker has had a stellar career when reaching 292 NRL appearances but there are now serious doubts over whether he will break through the 300 barrier.
Raiders legend Jason Croker is the club’s all-time leading appearance maker with 318 games between 1991 and 2006, but that figure seems someway off right now.
