Dallas Mavericks No. 1 overall pick Cooper Flagg is, to no one’s surprise, the favorite to win NBA Rookie of the Year in 2025/26.
Flagg is priced at -200 to win the award, following by Utah Jazz No. 5 pick Ace Bailey (+800) and Washington Wizards No. 6 pick Tre Johnson (+900).
Flagg joins a Mavericks team that won the NBA Draft Lottery with a 1.8% chance of doing so, meaning he is joining a franchise in a much better situation than most every top pick of years’ past.
Alongside 10-time NBA All-Star Anthony Davis, four-time NBA champion Klay Thompson, and a roster full of players that heavily contributed to Dallas’ run to the 2024 NBA Finals, it will be no shock to see Flagg excel from the moment he steps on an NBA court.
Not to mention he will have veteran point guard and fellow Duke alumni Kyrie Irving as a mentor, as the nine-time All-Star continues to recover from a torn ACL suffered in March 2025.
Since 2000, nine of 25 Rookie of the Year awards have gone to the No. 1 pick, including Flagg’s teammate Kyrie Irving in 2011/12. The last top overall pick to win ROY was Victor Wembanyama in 2023/24.
The last Duke player to win Rookie of the Year was Orlando Magic star Paolo Banchero in the 2022/23 NBA season.
Only two Dallas Mavericks have won ROY – Jason Kidd in 1994/95 and Luka Doncic in 2018/19.
Kidd, of course, will be Flagg’s head coach in Dallas.
