MCWS Finals
There are eight teams in the College World Series, each the winner of a Super Regional, which is the second round of the NCAA Baseball Tournament.
The eight participating teams are split into two, four-team, double-elimination brackets, with the winners of each bracket playing in a best-of-three championship series.
After a team loses its first game, it is not eliminated, rather it moves to a new portion of the bracket to face off against other losing teams.
The CWS finals are a best-of-three series.
The University of Southern California (USC) has won the most College World Series championships with 12 titles. They won their championships in 1948, 1958, 1961, 1963, 1968, 1970-74, 1978, and 1998.
LSU is next up with seven titles, moving into sole second place after its 2023 triumph. Texas (six) and Arizona State (five) are third and fourth.
The College World Series has been held in Omaha, Nebraska since 1950. The games are played at Charles Schwab Field Omaha.
The stadium has a capacity of only 24,000, but the College World Series attracts over 1 million visitors each year.
The 2024 college baseball season gets underway in February, so there is plenty of time for players and teams to change shape over the coming months, via both the transfer portal and the MLB Draft.
Defending champions LSU will undoubtedly be in the mix again in 2024, having reached the promise land for a seventh time in program history in 2023.
Wake Forest, 2023 runners-up Florida, and Clemson are all expected to reach Omaha again, while Tennessee boasts the top incoming recruiting class and will be among the favorites in 2024.
