Week 9 of the 2023 college football season has arrived, and as usual there is a loaded slate to get excited for on Saturday. 

Below, we have picked out five matchups to look out for that are must-see TV, involving a number of powerhouses that look set to be competitive contests.

No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs vs. Florida Gators 

Georgia has reigned supreme in the college football world for two years now and is looking to register a historic three-peat this season. 

The Bulldogs have been powering their way past everyone but this time they come up against a sturdy Florida team down in Jacksonville. 

This will be one of Georgia’s toughest tests of the season so far and there is every chance that the Gators can make this one a lot closer than the sportsbooks expect.

Georgia are favored by -14.5, while Florida is +450 ML. 

No. 8 Oregon Ducks vs No. 13 Utah Utes 

The Pac-12 conference has been phenomenal this season with a whole host of star-studded matchups, and this game between Oregon and Utah isn’t likely to be any different. 

The Ducks responded to their narrow 36-33 loss to Washington by beating down Washington State last week and will know that they need a win here to keep their hopes of reaching the college football playoff alive. 

Meanwhile, Utah pulled off a surprise win over USC last week to improve to 6-1, and a victory could go a long way to bolstering their own national championship hopes.

Oregon are favored by -6.5, while Utah are +205 ML.

Pitt Panthers vs No. 14 Notre Dame Fighting Irish

It’s been a rough season so far for Pitt and a trip to take on Notre Dame is unlikely to make things any better. 

However, the Panthers have shown flashes of talent, highlighted by their 38-21 win over Louisville a couple of weeks ago, and they can certainly cause a scare for the Fighting Irish. 

Notre Dame lost to that same Louisville team 33-20 so there is a form line there. While they did look impressive in a beatdown of USC last time, there may be an overreaction with Notre Dame and Pitt could take advantage.

The Irish are favored by -20.5. 

No.24 USC Trojans vs California Golden Bears

What looked like being a promising season for USC and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Caleb Williams has suddenly descended into disaster.

The Trojans have lost two straight games to extinguish any hopes of reaching the college football playoff, while Williams had just one touchdown pass and three interceptions in those matchups. 

However, that adds an interesting dynamic to this visit to 3-4 California, who have struggled mightily on defense. This is the perfect scenario for Williams to bounce back to form, and there is real intrigue around how he’ll respond.

USC is favored by -10.5 while Cal is +320 ML.

No.3 Ohio State Buckeyes vs Wisconsin Badgers

Ohio State has looked hot this season as they look to finally return to the national championship game, but standing in their way this week is a resilient Wisconsin team. 

The Badgers have won four of their last five games, including a 24-13 success over Rutgers, and haven’t allowed more than 17 points at home all season. 

Ohio State just earned a hard-fought 20-12 win over Penn State, but it awaits to be seen how much that victory took out of the Buckeyes. There’s every chance the Badgers push Ohio State to the limit in this one.

Wisconsin is +475 on the ML, while Ohio State is favored by -14.5.
