The Cleveland Cavaliers are undefeated at 12-0, and their NBA Championship odds have shortened dramatically since the start of the season.
Cleveland is now +1800 to win it all after starting the season around 40/1. That gives them the eighth-shortest outright price, and they're the third-favorite to win the Eastern Conference with +650 odds.
And, the Cavs are +850 second-favorites to win the NBA Cup, while Donovan Mitchell is the +1200 joint-third favorite to win NBA Cup MVP. Cleveland's Cup campaign kicks off at home on Friday, November 15 against the Chicago Bulls.
Under head coach Kenny Atkinson, who took over for JB Bickerstaff in the offseason, the Cavs lead the NBA in field goal percentage, points per game and offensive rating while ranking in the top 10 in turnovers forced per game, defensive turnover percentage, steals per game and assists per game.
Cleveland has faced the third-weakest schedule so far, per Basketball-Reference. They have played - and beaten - the Toronto Raptors, Detroit Pistons, Washington Wizards, New York Knicks, Los Angeles Lakers, Orlando Magic, Milwaukee Bucks (twice), New Orleans Pelicans, Golden State Warriors, Brooklyn Nets and the Bulls.
Wins over the Warriors and Lakers can certainly be deemed quality wins, and despite the Bucks' awful 2-8 start, beating the duo of Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard in back-to-back games - as the Cavs did - is an accomplishment.
With games against the Philadelphia 76ers (with a healthy Joel Embiid) and the Boston Celtics coming in the next week, the Cavs' title credentials will be tested.
Cleveland is currently shooting the lights out and playing excellent defense - the question is whether those trends will last the entire season through to the playoffs.
