Carolina Hurricanes vs. Buffalo Sabres: Picks, Predictions and Odds

Read the latest betting picks and predictions for tonight's matchup between the Carolina Hurricanes (26-15-3) and Buffalo Sabres (16-22-5), courtesy of our friends at Daily Faceoff.

Carolina Hurricanes vs. Buffalo Sabres betting picks and predictions

Carolina dropped its last game as massive favorites on Sunday, closing at -525 on the moneyline against the Ducks.

Despite outshooting Anaheim 37-20, the Hurricanes fell in overtime. After a couple of days off, they’ll look to rebound against the Sabres on Wednesday.

Buffalo also lost its last game, falling 6-2 at home to the Kraken. The Sabres held a 2-0 lead heading into the second period, but Seattle stormed back with six unanswered goals.

It was arguably Buffalo’s ugliest loss of the season in what has already been a tough campaign.

The Sabres are well-rested with three days off before Wednesday’s matchup, but with Carolina coming off a two-day break, the schedule isn’t likely to be much of a factor. Buffalo is 8-14 straight up at home this season, while Carolina hasn’t been much better on the road, going 9-12 with just two wins in its last 11 road games.

There’s a big skill gap between these two teams, though. Buffalo is among the bottom-10 teams in categories like expected goals and shots (for and against). Carolina, on the other hand, grades out as the best team in terms of shot share and the third-best team in expected goals percentage in all situations.

The Sabres also rank among the bottom-10 teams in shots against, and only five teams have allowed more goals per 60 minutes than the Sabres have this season.

Meanwhile, Carolina is the second-best team when it comes to generating shots and expected goals, and only four teams have scored more goals per 60 minutes than the Hurricanes year-to-date.

That makes players like Seth Jarvis an attractive bet to register three shots on goal or more at +115, especially considering he’s done so in six of his last nine games. Moreover, Jarvis has four goals in his last five outings, so his anytime goal odds (+190) are appealing as well.

Pick: Seth Jarvis Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+115)

Pick: Seth Jarvis Anytime Goalscorer (+190)
