Alvarez comes into this fight with a professional boxing record of 61-2-2. Making his boxing debut in October of 2005, Alvarez quickly made a name for himself, winning 23 of his first 24 fights with the other fight being a draw.

This led to Alvarez earning his first title fight in January of 2009, where he won the North American Boxing Federation Welterweight title.

Berlanga comes into this fight with a professional record of 22-0. He made his debut in April of 2016, beating Jorge Pedroza by knockout.

Following his debut win, Berlanga won his next 15 fights in a row by knockout, therefore starting his career with 16 consecutive knockouts. This streak finally ended in April of 2021, when he won by unanimous decision for the first time.

Following his 17th win in a row, Berlanga finally earned himself his first title fight in October of 2021 against Marcelo Coceres. This fight was for the WBO NABO Super Middleweight title, a fight Berlanga won by unanimous decision.
