No. 1 overall pick and Tennessee Titans QB Cameron Ward is +260 to win Offensive Rookie of the Year in the 2025 NFL season.
Ward rose to stardom during his stellar senior season at Miami in 2024, totaling 4,313 pass yards, 39 pass TD and 7 interceptions. He finished fourth in Heisman Trophy voting and was named a consensus All-American.
Ward fits the mold of a star NFL quarterback. The 22-year-old can make plays out of nothing, both as a thrower and a runner. His pocket presence and composure were second to none across college football last season. His ability to make accurate throws from different arm angles puts him in an echelon with the NFL’s elite quarterbacks.
Putting it all together in the NFL right from the jump takes a rare talent, both mentally and physically, and the right situation when it comes to coaching and the supporting cast. We’ve seen it with C.J. Stroud and Jayden Daniels in recent seasons, so it’s plausible that Ward can replicate that success.
The top overall pick joins a Titans team that finished in last place in the AFC South at 3-14. Over the past three seasons, five different quarterbacks have started at least two games for the Titans, and the franchise has not had a reliable, consistent starter since Ryan Tannehill was replaced during the 2023 season. So Ward’s arrival is a welcome sight for the Titans faithful.
The only historical trend that clashes with Ward’s chances at Offensive Rookie of the Year is the list of recent winners. Just once in the past 13 years (Kyler Murray, 2019) has the No. 1 overall pick gone on to win Rookie of the Year, either on offense or defense. The past two winners – Jayden Daniels and C.J. Stroud – were taken second overall.
The last Titans player to win OROY was also a quarterback: Vince Young in 2006. Young, a college national champion at Texas and the third overall pick in the 2006 draft, threw for 2,199 yards, 12 TD and 13 interceptions in his rookie season.
