2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year and Iowa women’s basketball great Caitlin Clark will have her No. 22 jersey retired by her alma mater on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
Clark’s jersey and number will officially be unveiled in the rafters of Carver-Hawkeye Arena after Iowa’s game against new Big Ten conference foe USC.
In four years as a Hawkeye, Clark broke countless school and NCAA records and rose to fame as one of the most recognizable athletes in the United States.
Clark led Iowa to back-to-back national championship game appearances in 2023 and 2024, almost single-handedly carrying the Hawkeyes to a title against juggernauts LSU and South Carolina.
As far as individual accolades, Clark broke Pete Maravich’s 54-year-old record as NCAA Division I’s all-time leading scorer (3,951 points), was a two-time consensus National Player of the Year, led the nation in scoring four times, and led the Big Ten in scoring and assists all four years, to name a few.
Immediately following her senior season, Clark entered the WNBA Draft and was selected first overall by the Indiana Fever. Clark won the Rookie of the Year award and finished fourth in MVP voting while leading the Fever to the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
Now, less than a year on from her final game as a Hawkeye, her No. 22 jersey will hang in her home arena forever.
