Bryce Young has another chance to start for the Carolina Panthers as a result of Andy Dalton's injury, and he'll want to make the most of the opportunity against the Denver Broncos.
Young, the 2023 NFL Draft No. 1 overall pick, lost his job as the starter after Week 2. The Panthers had lost both of its games at that point and scored a total of 13 points between the two games, while Young had a 0-3 TD-INT ratio.
He got to throw a few times late in the 36-10 loss to the Chicago Bears, completing 4/7 passes for 58 yards at an average of 14.5 yards per catch. He threw two passes in the following week's 40-7 loss to the Washington Commanders, completing both but for -4 yards.
In 16 games as a rookie, Young completed 59.8 percent of his passes for 2,877 yards - 179.8 yards per game and 9.1 yards per catch - and a 11-10 TD-INT ratio.
This season, in his two starts combined, he completed 55.3 percent of his passes for 245 yards and, as mentioned, a 0-3 TD-INT ratio.
Panthers head coach Dave Canales had Young utilizing two very different strategies in Week 1 and Week 2: Young averaged 12.6 intended air yards per attempt in Week 1 against the New Orleans Saints and was pressured 31.6 percent of the time per Pro Football Reference, while in Week 2 against the Los Angeles Chargers he averaged merely 2.3 intended air yards per throw and saw pressure just 6.9 percent of the time as a result of checking down so often.
Young is re-entering a tough situation in Week 8, playing behind an offensive line that allows the joint-third lowest amount of pocket time for its QBs at 2.2 seconds per dropback, per Pro Football Reference.
While he may not be in the best situation for a young quarterback, the 2023 top pick will want to adapt quickly and show that he can lead the team effectively enough for it to keep games close or perhaps even win.
In Week 8, the Alabama product is playing against a 4-3 Broncos team whose defense has allowed the third-fewest points and the third-fewest yards in the NFL this season.
Ahead of Young's first start since Week 2, let's look at the second-year QB's player props, odds and lines for Week 8 against Denver.
