Brooks Koepka Injury Update Ahead of Shinnecock Return

Brooks Koepka's return to Shinnecock for the 2026 US Major Open comes with a much different storyline compared to 2018.

Koepka is not returning to Shinnecock in hopes of being a back-to-back US Open Champion, he comes back facing a hand injury.

Koepka's injury setback

A week that started off strong for Koepka ended in withdrawal. On Sunday, June 14, Brooks Koepka's left hand took him out of the RBC Canadian Open.

The problem was linked to an unlar nerve flare-up that caused numbness and weakness in some of his fingers on his left hand, making it difficult to grip the club.

Koepka had scans of his neck over the weekend and the images didn't reveal any problems.

A return to history

Brooks Koepka returns to the course where he not only defended his US Open title, but secured his victory on the 18th green by sinking a final putt to win by one stroke.

Despite concerns earlier this week, Koepka is certain that he is healthy enough to play at the 126th US Major Open.

Koepka completed a nine-hole practice round on Tuesday and feels good about teeing off for Round 1 on Thursday, June 18.

The spotlight will be on whether Koepka can contend once again at Shinnecock, a course that has already played a defining role in his championship legacy.
