Tight end Brock Bowers underwent a meniscus trim on Tuesday which will see him miss at least the first week of the season.
In a surprising development, the Las Vegas Raiders will be without their All-Pro tight end for the first game of the season after undergoing a minor meniscus surgery. The news came out of nowhere because there was no indication that Brock Bowers would miss Week 1 earlier this week.
First year head coach Klint Kubiak told the media that he expected to have all of his players ready for Sunday's opener against the Miami Dolphins, and less than a day later the report came out that Bowers received the minor surgery.
Bowers is a crucial weapon to the Raiders' offense, and is arguably the best tight end in the NFL. Last season, the former Georgia star caught 64 passes for 680 yards and seven touchdowns in 12 games. If he can remain healthy once he returns from this minor setback, Bowers is a candidate to have 1,000+ receiving yards.

A meniscus trim is not a very invasive surgery, and he'll likely be back in practice next week.
Reports indicate that Bowers is expected to miss the first two games, meaning that he would play his first game against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, September 27th.
