Shakur Stevenson vs. Josh Padley: Picks, Predictions and Odds

One of the biggest fights of the year is set to take place this weekend when Shakur Stevenson and Josh Padley clash in a WBC Lightweight title bout.

Note that Floyd Schofield was the original opponent for Stevenson but due to an injury, he was forced to pull out, which opened the door for Padley.

The fight between Stevenson and Padley is scheduled for Saturday, February 22nd, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Our article will break down our two best bets for this WBC Lightweight title fight while also providing the latest odds for the contest.

Shakur Stevenson vs. Josh Padley betting picks and predictions

Shakur Stevenson Win by Decision/Technical Decision (+175)

Our first selection for the title fight will target Stevenson to win by decision/technical decision.

Stevenson enters this fight with a professional boxing record of 22-0. He made his debut in April 2017, winning his first nine fights in a row before earning his first title fight.

This was for the IBF Inter-Continental Featherweight and WBC Continental Americas Featherweight titles, a fight he won in January 2019. Three months later, Stevenson added the WBO NABO Featherweight title to his collection.

Stevenson continued to have success, adding the WBO World Featherweight title in October 2019. Two years later, Stevenson won the Interim WBO World Super Featherweight title, while also clinching the WBC World Super Featherweight title in April 2022.

More recently, Stevenson won the WBC World Lightweight title in November 2023 and successfully defended his strap in July 2024.

On the other side, Padley enters this fight with a professional boxing record of 15-0.

Padley made his debut in April 2019 winning his first nine fights before earning his title shot for the BBBofC Central Area Lightweight title, a content he won in March 2023.

Padley quickly followed up this success by winning the Universal Boxing Organization International Lightweight title in December 2023.

Although Padley has not earned another title fight since that time, he has continued to win and now has an opportunity to land the biggest title fight of his career on Saturday.

Stevenson is the overwhelming favorite to win this fight and retain his WBC Lightweight title. He has won four of his last five fights by decision, therefore backing him to win by decision (+175) will be our first bet.

Fight to go the Distance - Yes (+162)

Our second bet will focus on backing this fight going the distance.

Stevenson has seen 10 of his fights end inside the distance, while 12 of his bouts have gone the distance and as mentioned previously, this includes four of his last five fights.

As for Padley, he has seen 11 of his 15 career fights go the distance, which includes three of his last six fights.

Because neither Stevenson nor Padley has ever lost by KO/TKO and they have both seen many of their recent fights end by decision, backing this fight to go the distance (+162) looks like a solid option.
