We analyse the credentials of Robson Conceicao and O’Shaquie Foster ahead of their rematch at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, New York on Saturday, November 2.
Conceicao claimed his first world title in his fourth attempt as he wrestled the WBC super featherweight title away from Foster with a split decision win in their first meeting back in July.
Foster had held that title for 18 months, making two successful defences, and he will be looking to reclaim the belt at the first time of asking.

Robson Conceicao enjoyed a stellar career as an amateur that saw him land the Silver Medal at lightweight in the 2013 World Championships. In his 420th and final outing as an amateur, the Brazilian landed the gold medal in the lightweight category at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, beating the legendary French fighter Sofiane Oumiha in the final, signing off with a 405-15 record.
Conceicao made his professional bow later the same year and he faced an opponent who had already fought eight times in the pro ranks in his debut, outpointing the 4-2-2 Clay Burns via unanimous decision in a six-round affair in Las Vegas.
Nino came up against a fighter with a winning record in his second bout, the 3-1 Aaron Ely, and recorded his first KO with a second-round win. Indeed, four of his first five fights came against opponents with winning records and he made a step up in class in his sixth assignment by facing an unbeaten opponent in the shape of Ignacio Holguin, passing that test with a points win.
After building a 16-0 record, Conceicao managed to secure his first shot at a world title but he came up short as he was outpointed by Mexican star Oscar Valdez, who was 29-0 at that point.
Conceicao responded to that setback by beating Xavier Martinez and then faced Shakur Stevenson for the WBC and WBO belts, although those titles were only on the line for Conceicao after the American failed to make the weight. Conceicao lost via unanimous decision but came out of that contest against the highly-rated Stevenson with his reputation intact.
His next world title fight was against Emanuel Navarrete and he came close but the fight was scored a draw, meaning Navarrete kept hold of the belts.
As is generally the case with boxers who enjoy success in the amateur ranks, Conceicao is a technically gifted fighter who makes use of a variety of shots, with his jab and bodyshots particularly effective weapons.

O’Shaquie Foster may be four years younger than Conceicao but he has been in the pro ranks for a longer period, making his debut just over a week before his 19th birthday in September of 2012.
The American made a statement on debut with a first-round stoppage win over Theo Johnson in Robstown, Texas.
Foster suffered his career in his ninth fight, losing via unanimous decision to Samuel Teah, and was 9-1 when he made a step up in class by taking on the undefeated Lavisas Williams in February 2016, on a Showtime undercard. Foster secured a seventh-round TKO in a win that could have been a springboard, but he was then beaten via a split decision by Rolando Chinea.
Ice Water spent around 18 months out of the ring after that loss but impressed on his return, stopping Andrew Goodrich in the first round in December of 2017 and then outpointing Kaylyn Alfred less than a month later.
Those wins put him back in the mix to climb the rankings and after an eye-catching win over the unbeaten Jon Fernandez he stopped both Fatiou Fassinou and Jesus Bravo.
Foster’s first title came in his next bout as he landed the WBC Silver super featherweight belt by seeing off Alberto Mercardo on points.
The 31-year-old claimed a world title at the first attempt as he triumphed as the slight underdog against the 36-0 Rey Vargas for the vacant WBC super featherweight crown.
Foster dominated their bout for large periods and won via unanimous decision, then successfully defended the title against Eduardo Hernandez (12th round TKO) and Abraham Nova (split decision) before his loss to Conceicao.
