Richardson Hitchins enjoyed an impressive amateur career and represented his parents’ homeland Haiti at the 2016 Olympics, where he lost to WBA super lightweight champion Gary Antuanne Russell.
The Brooklyn-native moved into the professional ranks the following year and claimed a first-round stoppage win on his debut against Mario Alberto Perez Navarro.
Hitchins put together a 6-0 record before making a step up in class to take on Tre'Sean Wiggins, winning on points in an eight-round contest.
The 27-year-old has never faced a fighter with a losing record and victories over the 25-5-3 Argenis Mendez in 2020 and the 18-1 Malik Hawkins the following year saw him move up the rankings.
In 2023, he moved a step closer to challenging for a world title by outpointing three-time world title challenger Jose Zepeda and the following year he controversially claimed a points win over Gustavo Daniel Lemos in the IBF super lightweight title eliminator.
Hitchins beat Liam Paro via split decision to land the IBF super lightweight title in December 2024.

George Kambosos Jr. made his debut in 2013 with a second-round win over Jayson Mac Gura.
The Australian put together a 19-0 record before getting his first shot at a world title as he challenged Teofimo Lopez for the IBF and WBO straps.
Kambosos knocked Lopez down in the first round before going on to win via split decision in what was a huge upset.
However, since that victory he has lost three of his five fights, having been outpointed twice by Devin Haney while he was stopped by Vasyl Lomachenko.
Kambosos Jr. made his super lightweight debut in his last bout against compatriot Jake Wyllie in his native Sydney.
Hitchins is the heavy favorite at -1200, while Kamboso Jr. is a +700 underdog.
