Ford won the WBA featherweight world title in only his 16th professional fight but he lost it against Nick Ball in Saudi Arabia earlier this year - in what was his first defeat.

The New Jersey man has been busy this year as he prepares to bounce back and 'Savage' is gearing up for his third fight in eight months when he faces off against Gonzalez-Ruiz this weekend.

Ford steps up to the super-featherweight division and has been training in a new set-up in Houston as he hopes to become a two-weight world champion.

Orlando Gonzalez-Ruiz Profile

Gonzalez Ruiz is an experienced super-featherweight, but the Puerto Rican is readying himself for the toughest test of his career against American Ford.

The 29-year-old is on a five-fight winning streak and, even though they have been relatively low-key victories, Gonzalez Ruiz will not be short of confidence in the ring.

He was last in action five months ago when beating Jose Santos Gonzalez and is the huge underdog for the clash with Ford.

His two pro defeats so far came against Robeisy Ramirez in October 2021 and Misael Lopez just under a year later.
