Hall of Fame fighter Manny Pacquiao returns to the ring to challenge WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
PacMan has not been involved in a professional boxing contest since he was defeated by Yordenis Ugas in 2021, and it will be interesting to see how much the 46-year-old has left to offer.
Manny Pacquiao and Mario Barrios will meet on Saturday, July 19, 2025.
Ringwalks for Manny Pacquiao vs. Mario Barrios are due to take place at 11 PM ET.
The WBC welterweight title contest will take place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The venue has a 17,000 capacity and is located on the Las Vegas Strip.
Manny Pacquiao has plenty of experience of fighting at the MGM Grand Garden Arena and PacMan’s huge 2015 clash with Floyd Mayweather Jr took place at the Las Vegas venue.
Manny Pacquiao vs. Mario Barrios will be available to watch via Amazon Prime Video for US viewers. The fight is a pay-per-view event and will incur an additional charge.
The WBC welterweight world title is on the line when Mario Barrios and Manny Pacquiao go head-to-head in Las Vegas.
WBC’s rule, which allows a former champion coming out of retirement to request a title fight upon their return, has allowed PacMan to jump the queue for a world title shot.
The 46-year-old is a 12-time world champion and an eight-weight king, while Barrios makes the second defense of his 147lbs title.
62-8-2 (39 KOs)
Manny Pacquiao is one of the most decorated fighters in boxing history and the Filipino is a 12-time world champion. PacMan has won world titles in eight weight divisions and, at his peak, the 46-year-old was a fearsome performer.
The Filipino was noted for his incredible punch output, work rate, and hand speed, and Pacquiao ended his career with a record of 62-8-2 (39 KOs).
PacMan’s career included high-level contests against Keith Thurman, Timothy Bradley Jr., Floyd Mayweather Jr., Juan Manuel Marquez, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, Oscar De La Hoya and Marco Antonio Barrera to name a few and PacMac is a national hero in his native Philippines as well as being a boxing Hall of Famer.
The 46-year-old's last professional contest came against Yordenis Ugas in 2021, where PacMan was outpointed, but not disgraced.
Ugas has since gone on to lose to Mario Barrios, which gives a clear form line ahead of Sunday’s contest and it’s difficult to see how Pacquiao can improve four years on.
The 46-year-old is already a legend of the sport and the Filipino has the chance to pull off an incredible achievement should he capture the WBC welterweight title in Las Vegas.
29-2-1 (18 KOs)
Mario Barrios is the reigning WBC welterweight champion with a record of 29-2-1 (18 KOs).
El Azteca is 16 years Manny Pacquiao junior, and the 30-year-old is a solid performer.
The Texas fighter captured the WBC interim world welterweight title in 2023 when beating Yordenis Ugas, who was the man to down PacMan in his last professional contest, and Barrios successfully defended that title against Fabian Andres Maidana last year.
El Azteca was elevated to WBC champion in full following Terence Crawford's move up to light middleweight 12 months ago, but the American was made to work in his first world title defense.
Barrios had veteran Abel Ramos on the canvas in the second round of their November clash, before the Mexican-American turned the tables to knock down El Azteca in round six.
However, Barrios finished that brutal contest strongly, before the judges declared the bout a split-decision draw.
Barrios held on to his WBC welterweight title and that belt will be on the line against PacMan in Las Vegas.
