Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3: Tale of the Tape

Katie Taylor and Amando Serrano will share a ring for the third time as when they do battle at the Madison Square Garden in New York in July.

Taylor has won the first two fights between the pair, but both bouts were close and could have gone either way.

The pair first met in April 2022 before Taylor added a second win to her record in November 2024.

Taylor and Serrano will headline a huge all-woman event, with IBF super-middleweight champion Savannah Marshall taking on WBO champion Shadasia Green in a unification contest.

Chantelle Cameron and Ramla Ali will also fight on the card and it promises to be a huge night of female boxing.

Who will prevail? Let's look at the 'Tale of the Tape'...

Katie Taylor profile

24-1 (6 KOs)

Katie Taylor is one of Ireland's most recognizable sports stars and has become a legend of women's professional boxing.

The 38-year-old enjoyed an incredible amateur career, winning five women's World Championship gold medals and six European crowns.

Taylor made a name for herself when she won gold at the London Olympics in 2012.

The Bray fighter decided to turn professional in 2016 and she is the unified world lightweight champion, a title she has held since 2019, and undisputed super-lightweight title holder since 2023.

Taylor is one of only eight fighters, male or female, to have IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO titles all at the same time and she has dominated the professional ranks since her debut.

She won her first world title in October 2017 when winning the WBA lightweight title when beating Anahi Ester Sanchez by unanimous decision in Cardiff.

The Irish fighter then added the IBF belt the following April with a points victory over Victoria Bustos in New York before a technical knockout success over Rose Valente in Philadelphia and a decision win over Delfine Persoon at Madison Square Garden allowed her to unify the belts.

She gained her first light-welterweight title, the WBO strap, the following November in Manchester when she battled past Christiana Linardatou and soon accumulated all the titles in that division as well.

The fan favourite suffered her only defeat when she was on the wrong end of a points decision against Chantelle Cameron in Dublin in May 2023, but she got her revenge on the Northampton fighter the following September.

That bout went the distance, and only six of her 23 victories have come before the final bell. Taylor's relentless approach and ability to grind out wins make her dangerous, and she is rightly regarded as one of the best fighters in female boxing history.

Amando Serrano profile

47-3-1 (31KOs)

Like Taylor, Serrano is one of the biggest names in women's boxing but she did not take the same route as her opponent.

While Taylor learned her craft, travelling the world as an amateur, Serrano only had 10 fights in the unpaid ranks.

She ended her amateur career with a 9-1 record before making her debut in 2009 against Jackie Trivilino. She raced to 4-0 before suffering her first disappointment as she drew with Ela Nunez in November of that year.

Serrano won the IBF super-featherweight crown in September 2011 after stopping Kimberly Connor before tasting her first defeat in April 2012, losing to Frida Wallberg when challenging for the WBC super-featherweight title.

Her next championship success came in 2014 when she took the WBO lightweight belt by beating Maria Elena Maderna in Argentina.

Title successes have followed since as she has won WBO featherweight, junior featherweight, bantamweight, light-welterweight and junior bantamweight titles, but she lost a lightweight unification fight with Taylor in April 2022 and will be desperate for revenge.
