Jake Paul’s bout against the legendary Mike Tyson is top of the bill in Arlington, Texas on Friday night, but the fight between Ireland’s Katie Taylor and Puerto Rico’s Amanda Serrano that precedes it could be one for the ages.
Both can be regarded as legends of women’s boxing, but they are still at the height of their powers, and the Texas showdown looks set to be a great battle of styles, with Taylor regarded for her tactical acumen while southpaw Serrano possesses a strong left hand that has done plenty of damage in the 31 knockouts she has posted in her 47 fights.
Taylor’s IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO super-lightweight titles are on the line and she got the edge over Serrano two years ago when the former Olympic champion won a split decision at Madison Square Garden, and there is a strong chance this clash will be just as memorable.
So here is the tale of the tape and a review of both fighters' careers so far, including the strengths that could give them the edge and the potential weaknesses that their opponent could exploit.

Katie Taylor is one of Ireland’s most recognisable sports stars and has become a legend of women’s professional boxing.
The 38-year-old from Bray, County Wicklow had an outstanding amateur career as she won five women’s world championship gold medals and six European crowns, while she rose to international prominence by winning at the London Olympics in 2012.
She turned professional in 2016 and holds the distinction of being the unified world lightweight champion, a title she has held since 2019, and undisputed super-lightweight title holder since 2023.
She is one of only eight fighters, male or female, to have held IBF, WBA, WBC and WBO titles all at the same time. She claimed her first title when she became WBS lightweight champion in October 2017 when she beat Anahi Ester Sanchez by a unanimous decision in Cardiff.
Taylor then added the IBF title the following April with a points win over Victoria Bustos in New York before a technical-knockout success over Rose Valente in Philadelphia and a decision win over Delfine Persoon at Madison Square Garden allowed her to unify the belts.
She gained her first light-welterweight title, the WBO version, the following November in Manchester when she beat Christiana Linardatou and soon accumulated all the titles in that division as well.
Taylor suffered her only defeat when she was on the wrong end of a points decision against Chantelle Cameron in Dublin in May 2023, but she was able to exact revenge on the Northampton fighter the following September, as her most recent bout again went the distance.
While just six of her 23 victories have come early, her tactical nous makes her an extremely strong competitor and she is rightly regarded as one of the best fighters in female boxing history.

Puerto Rican Amanda Serrano, who was brought up in Brooklyn, New York, can also be regarded as a legend of the women’s fight game.
She won the WBO featherweight title in 2019, the IBO version in 2021 and the WBA crown in 2023 and Serrano holds the distinction of winning nine major world titles across seven different weights, winning belts from super-flyweight and lightweight.
The southpaw is renowned for her explosive power which is regarded as one of the most impressive in women’s boxing and 31 of her 47 victories have come within the distance.
Serrano’s amateur career was brief - she had only ten fights - but she made a big early impression after turning professional in 2009, winning nine and drawing one of ten fights before she won her first title, the vacant WBC-NABF featherweight title with a first-round win over Jennifer Scott in June 2011.
Her first defeat came in her 16th bout in 2012 when she suffered a unanimous-decision reverse in Sweden against local favorite Frida Wallberg when challenging for the WBC super-featherweight title, but her next championship success came in 2014 when she took the WBO lightweight belt by beating Maria Elena Maderna in Argentina.
Title successes have followed since as she has won WBO featherweight, junior featherweight, bantamweight, light-welterweight and junior bantamweight titles, but she lost a lightweight unification fight with Taylor in April 2022 and will have her eyes on swift revenge.
