The 27-year-old from Mexico went on to win his first 26 professional fights before he finally earned his first title shot. This fight took place in February 2018 and was for the vacant WBC Latino Super Welterweight title. Munguia earned the title by beating Jose Carlos Paz via technical knockout.

Munguia continued to win, which earned him another title fight in May 2018 against Sadam Ali for the WBO World Super Welterweight title.

Munguia won this fight by technical knockout. He went on to defend the title in his next five straight fights, which helped earn him yet another title shot in October 2020.

This contest was against Tureano Johnson and was for the vacant WBO Inter-Continental Middleweight title, which he won. Munguia also won the vacant WBC Silver Super Middleweight title in June 2023.

In his most recent bout, Munguia finally suffered his first career loss in May 2024, missing out on the chance to win three more titles.
