Isaac Cruz is looking to get back to challenging for world titles after losing the WBA super lightweight title in his first defence back in August.
The Mexico City native debuted professionally in 2015 with a first-round win over Luis Yan Revilla. Cruz claimed five wins, with three knockouts, before stepping up in class in his sixth fight against the 10-5 Luis Montano Alvarez, suffering a first defeat as he lost via unanimous decision.
Cruz put together an impressive 19-1-1 record before making his first big statement. Pitbull came up against former world title contender Diego Magdaleno on the undercard of Gervonta Davis vs. Léo Santa Cruz in October 2020 and won inside the first minute of the first round.
He then faced the unbeaten Jose Matias Romero in a WBA lightweight title eliminator and then former WBC super featherweight champion Francisco Vargas, beating both on points.
Cruz would suffer his second defeat in his next bout but he still enhanced his growing reputation in defeat to Davis. The Mexican was a late replacement for Rolando Romero, taking the fight at two weeks' notice as he headlined a PPV card for the first time. Cruz lost out on points but kept the fight close for large periods. He became just the second fighter to go the full distance with Davis and he remains the only man to go 12 rounds with Tank.
Cruz responded to the loss to Davis by recording the most impressive win of his career to date - a fifth round stoppage of former unified featherweight champion Yuriorkis Gamboa.
Wins over Eduardo Ramirez and Giovanni "El Cabron" Cabrera earned Cruz his first chance to land a full world title and he claimed the WBA super lightweight strap by stopping Romero in the eighth round.
Cruz lost his title at the first defence, however, via split decision to Jose Valenzuela and he will be looking to get back on track by taking out Angel Fierro.

Angel Fierro is a fighter on the cusp of breaking into the world scene and a victory over Isaac Cruz would put him firmly on the map.
The Tijuana-native made his debut in 2015 and a devastating sixth round stoppage win over Alberto Machado in 2021, where he recovered from being knocked down twice, saw him join Eddie Hearn's Matchroom stable.
Fierro has developed a reputation as a bit of a knockout specialist and in 2023, he claimed a pair of big wins as he stopped Eduardo Estela in March before battling to a split decision win against the dangerous Brayan Zamarripa six months later.
Tashiro suffered a second professional defeat after outpointing Zamarripa as he lost via unanimous decision to Alfredo Santiago, but he responded by stopping journeyman Eleazar Valenzuela Carrillo in a comeback fight in his last assignment.
An all-action fighter who tends to be involved in highly-entertaining bouts, Fierro is preparing for the biggest test of his career to date in the shape of former world champion Cruz, and a victory would push him closer to a world title shot of his own.
