Navarrete is a three-weight world champion who won over 100 amateur fights before making his professional debut in February 2012 with a first-round TKO win over Misael Ramirez.
The Mexican won his first five contests inside the first round before suffering a first defeat to Daniel Argueta on points in the final of a Cinturon de Oro competition, although Navarrete was still declared the tournament winner as Arguerta didn’t appear at the weigh-in.
After putting together a 25-1 record, Navarrete made a huge step up in class by facing the 20-0 Isaac Dogboe for the WBO super bantamweight title.
Navarrete was a huge underdog but he produced an exceptional performance to win via unanimous decision. He then backed up that victory by stopping Dogboe in the 12th round in a rematch.
"Vaquero" defended that title five times before making the move up to featherweight, becoming a two-weight world champion by outpointing Ruben Villa for the vacant WBO belt.
In 2023, Navarete claimed the title he currently holds by stopping Liam Wilson in the ninth round. The 30-year-old was knocked down in the fourth round but he recovered and was able to win via stoppage himself.
He defended his title against Oscar Valdez later that year and beat his compatriot for a second time in December 2024, after a two-fight run in which he failed to win.
Navarrete battled out a draw with Robson Conceicao, who briefly went on to claim the WBC title, and lost via split decision when taking on Denys Berinchyk for the WBO lightweight crown as he missed out on the chance to be a four-division champion.

Charly Suarez won various medals for the Philippines as an amateur in the Asian Games and Southeast Asian Games and represented his country at the 2016 Olympics.
The 36-year-old made his professional debut in 2019 by stopping Ernesto Cagampang in the second round and followed that up by landing a Filipino title in his next fight.
Suarez put together a 14-0 record before moving up in class and fighting outside Southeast Asia for the first time, stopping Australian Paul Fleming in the 12th round to claim regional IBF, WBO and WBC super featherweight titles in Sydney.
Suarez’s last three fights have taken place on US soil and he was last seen claiming an impressive third-round stoppage win over Jorge Castaneda in Glendale, Arizona, in September 2024.
Navarette is a clear favorite at -450 and Suarez is rated as the +320 underdog.
