Valentine's Day is approaching and it will not only be special for obvious reasons, but it will also feature a much-anticipated matchup between Denys Berinchyk and Keyshawn Davis.
The fight between Berinchyk and Davis is scheduled for Friday, February 14 and will take place at The Theater at Madison Square Garden, in New York City.
The “Strictly Business” fight card is expected to get underway at 8 PM ET, with the ringwalk for Berinchyk and Davis at 11 PM ET.
Our article will break down our two best bets for the WBO World Lightweight title fight between Berinchyk and Davis while also providing the odds for both fighters.
Our first best bet for the title fight between Berinchyk and Davis will target Davis to win by decision/technical decision.
Davis enters this fight with a professional boxing record of 12-0. Relatively new to professional boxing, he made his debut in February 2021.
He started with six wins in a row before being awarded his first title fight in December 2022.
This was for the then-vacant WBO Inter-Continental Lightweight title and a fight he won by unanimous decision. Davis immediately followed up this title win by winning another title in April 2023, this time the WBC USA Lightweight title.
After defending both of these titles in two consecutive fights, Davis won the IBF USBA Lightweight title in February 2024. More recently, he won the IBF Inter-Continental Lightweight title in November 2024 after beating Gustavo Daniel Lemos by KO.
On the other side, Berinchyk enters this fight with a professional boxing record of 19-0.
Making his debut in August 2015, Berinchyk won his first seven fights in a row before winning the WBO Oriental Lightweight title in December 2017.
His next title win was in December 2018 when he won the WBO International Lightweight title. Berinchyk has defended this title eight times now, while also winning the EBU European Lightweight title in December 2022 and more recently, the WBO World Lightweight title in May 2024.
Even though Berinchyk currently holds the WBO World Lightweight title, Davis is the overwhelming favorite to become the new holder.
He has won eight times by KO/TKO in his boxing career, but two of his last four fights have been decided by decision.
Berinchyk of course, has never lost, therefore this has the makings of being a tightly contested fight.
Berinchyk certainly has the edge over Davis when it comes to experience, but Davis has already established himself as one of the best boxers in the world, having won four different titles in just about four years.
Based on the fact that Davis looks to be in the prime of his career and with no ceiling in sight, backing Davis to win by decision/technical decision (-125) is our first best bet.
Going off our best bet for Davis to win by decision/technical decision, our second best bet for this title fight focuses on backing the fight to go the distance.
Both fighters have won several times by KO/TKO, but Berinchyk has seen his last four fights end by decision and, as previously mentioned, Davis has seen two of his last four bouts do the same.
Because neither fighter has shown weakness when it comes to being knocked out, backing this fight to go the distance (-225) is our second best bet for Friday night.
