Known best for his MMA days, Sonnen began his career in 1997.

By 2005, he had broken into the UFC, finishing with an overall MMA record of 31-17-1 and 16-10 in the UFC. Over the course of his UFC career, Sonnen had many accolades, most notably the Fight of the Year in 2010 against the same man he will be up against here.

Boxing against Silva on June 15 will be new for Sonnen as he has never participated in a boxing match before.

That being said, there is less pressure on him because this bout will be an exhibition fight and will not count toward any official records.

Anderson Silva record

Silva is best known for his mixed martial arts days, beginning in 1997.

By 2006, he had joined the UFC, posting a record of 17-7, and is a former Middleweight champion, to go along with many other accomplishments, one of which includes being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2023.

His overall MMA record was 34-11 (1 No Contest) and he retired from the UFC in 2020.

To go along with his MMA career, Silva has also briefly tried his hand at professional boxing. His first professional boxing bout took place in May of 1998, a loss to Osmar Luiz Teixeira.

This was followed by a knockout win against Julio Cesar De Jesus in May of 2005.

Following his retirement from UFC, Silva went back to boxing in 2021, picking up a split decision win against Julio César Chávez Jr. in June of 2021 and a win by knockout against Tito Ortiz in September of 2021.

His most recent boxing match was in October of 2022, a loss by unanimous decision to Jake Paul.

Silva now holds a professional boxing record of 3-2 and has won twice by knockout, once by decision with one loss apiece by both knockout and decision.
