The Boston Celtics are the reigning NBA Champions, and they kept their entire rotation together as they look to repeat in the 2024/25 season.
Boston's starting five of Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis led the team to a 64-18 regular season record.
The team posted the joint-third highest net rating in NBA history at +11.6 points per 100 possessions, behind only the 1995/96 and 1996/97 Chicago Bulls and even with the 2016/17 Golden State Warriors.
All five starters are signed through 2025/26. Tatum and Brown are signed through 2028/29 (Tatum has a player option for 29/30), White is signed through 2027/28 with a player option for the next season, and Holiday is signed through 2026/27 and he also has a player option for the following campaign.
This is one of the most expensive rosters in NBA history, and that's one reason why managing owner Wyc Grousbeck announced a plan to sell the team shortly after the team won the title.
The Celtics are set to be at least $50 million over the salary cap through the 2028/29 season, and they will be over the second apron for the next two seasons at least. That means Boston won't be able to offer a mid-level exception contract, and they cannot trade multiple players for one player even if the salaries match up.
Despite all that noise in the background, the Celtics players and head coach Joe Mazzulla will enter the season focused on repeating last year's success, which saw the team earn its record 18th NBA Championship in franchise history.
Let's get into the Celtics' odds for the 2024/25 season.
