Read the latest betting picks and predictions for tonight's matchup between the Boston Bruins (13-11-3) and Chicago Blackhawks (8-15-2), courtesy of our friends at Daily Faceoff.
Boston came from behind twice on Tuesday to secure an overtime win against the Red Wings in Detroit. Now, they’re aiming for their first three-game win streak of the season on Wednesday in Chicago.
The schedule, however, could make the Blackhawks seem like a tougher challenge than they really are. The Bruins are playing their second game in as many nights, and it’s also their sixth in nine days.
Chicago isn’t in an ideal spot either; while they’ve had a day off, this will be their third game in four days, so they’re not exactly fresh.
Since the coaching change, Boston is 5-2 straight up. While the record looks solid on paper, their wins have come against weaker teams like Detroit, Montreal, Utah, and the Islanders—nothing too impressive.
That said, they’ve shown improvement on offense under head coach Joe Sacco, boosting their scoring from 2.37 goals per 60 minutes to 2.75. It’s not a huge leap, but it moves them from the league’s bottom three offensively to the middle of the pack.
Chicago, meanwhile, is trying to snap a three-game losing streak after losses to Minnesota, Columbus, and Toronto. The Blackhawks have managed a few upsets this season, including November home wins over Florida, Dallas, and Minnesota, plus a road win against Los Angeles after earlier victories in Edmonton and Colorado.
Still, they’re one of three teams worse offensively than the Bruins, scoring two or fewer goals in 16 of 25 games.
Connor Bedard has scored twice in his last four games, but with only three goals in his first 21, his slow start has contributed to Chicago’s poor offensive stats. Adding to the Blackhawks’ challenge, Boston started backup Joonas Korpisalo on Tuesday, leaving Jeremy Swayman fresh to face Chicago on Wednesday.
Swayman is 3-0 against the Blackhawks in his career, with a .939 save percentage and a 1.33 goals-against average. He also shut out Chicago during his last visit to the United Center.
