Bobby Finke burst onto the scene in the last Olympics with two gold medals, and he will look to add to his tally in Paris.
Finke won the 800m freestyle and the 1500m freestyle in Tokyo, and he qualified first in both of those events in Team USA qualifiers ahead of the 2024 games.
In the 800m freestyle in Tokyo, Finke set the American record in the final with a time of 7:41.87. He finished a second ahead of the second-placed finisher in the 1500m freestyle with a 14:39.65 time. Finke came from behind to win both events.
Finke posted trial times ahead of the 2024 games that were some way off his personal bests, but considering his final time in the Tokyo 1500m freestyle was nearly eight seconds shorter than his time in the preliminary races, it seems that he reaches his best when the lights are brightest.
