Netminder Jordan Binnington says the St. Louis Blues are excited for the challenge of facing the Colorado Avalanche in the Western Conference second round.
The Blues, 16/1 to win the Stanley Cup, beat the Minnesota Wild 5-1 in game six to win their first-round series 4-2 on Thursday.
Binnington called up to replace Husso
With St. Louis 2-1 down, Binnington replaced Ville Husso ahead of game four and the 28-year-old recorded three straight victories to secure the Blues' progression.
Over the three wins, Binnington recorded an impressive .943 save-percentage and 1.67 goals-against-average (GAA).
The 6'2" goalie sprung to fame in the 2018/19 season when he was called up from the Blues’ farm team and led the NHL side from last place in the regular season standings to the Stanley Cup Championship.
During the run, he became the first NHL rookie goalie to record 16 wins in a single post-season (16-10-0) with a .914 save-percentage and 2.46 GAA.
In just 38 play-off appearances, Binnington has already become the winningest netminder in Blues' post-season history (19).

St. Louis came into the play-offs as the third seed from the Central Division (49-22-11) and will now be able to enjoy rest before taking on the first-placed Avalanche (56-19-7).
Binnington ready for next challenge
Binnington said to the media: "It's a hard-fought series against a team that comes at you pretty hard, and we did a great job.
"We had guys step up, just a great team effort and it's good to be at this point. Now we're looking forward to the next challenge."
