Following Carlos Correa’s big money switch to the New York Mets late on Tuesday night, the biggest names on the free agent market have fallen into place prior to Christmas and the New Year.

Here are some of the players left who have yet to pick up a deal to date at the end of 2022.

Nathan Eovaldi (pitcher)

With Chris Bassitt now off the market (signed for the Toronto Blue Jays on a three-year, $63 million deal), Eovaldi is probably the number one pitcher listed for teams to pick up. 

Over the past three seasons Eovaldi has a 3.79 ERA and a 1.21 WHIP for the Boston Red Sox. 

Although the 32-year-old has had shoulder and elbow issues amongst other injuries, when he is healthy he has proven to be one of the best starters in the American League over the past five seasons and in playoff pitching alone he has a 3.14 ERA.

Jean Segura (second base)

The 32-year-old has had injury problems over the past few seasons but he was part of the Philadelphia Phillies side that reached the World Series in 2022, eventually losing out to the Houston Astros in the Fall Classic after a memorable playoff run. 

The Phillies won their first National League pennant in 13 years and Segura delivered some clutch hits including hitting .462 in the National League Division Series against the Atlanta Braves. 

Whatever team signs Segura will go with an injury risk but when he's fit he is very productive defensively and with the bat. 

The Phillies are +1600 to go one step further and Win Outright the World Series in 2023.

Jurickson Profar (Left-Field)

Profar is coming off a 2022 season with the San Diego Padres that saw him take more plate appearances than ever before. 

He produced a career-best 3.1 bWAR last season, posting a .723 OPS with 15 home runs. 

Profar is a versatile defender who has seen action in every position on a baseball field other than as pitcher or catcher during his eight-year MLB career.

Craig Kimbrel (Relief pitcher)

Kimbrel lost his place as closer for the Los Angeles Dodgers down the stretch last season. 

However, the 34-year-old still posted the 2022 campaign with a 3.75 ERA and 22 saves. Kimbrel had an excellent season in 2021, with the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox when he posted 2.26 ERA. 

In the early start of the season with the Cubs, his ERA was 0.49 over 39 appearances with 23 saves but when he moved to the Southsiders, Kimbrel struggled to maintain that form.

Trey Mancini (Designated Hitter)

Mancini was acquired at the Trade deadline by the Houston Astros from the Baltimore Orioles and didn’t produce as much as the Astros were hoping for, even though he won a World Series ring. 

The 30-year-old has posted a .735 OPS with 39 home runs in 1,203 plate appearances since returning from cancer in 2021.

Mancini would be a very useful hitter in the middle order should someone be willing to take him on.

Gary Sanchez (Catcher)

Sanchez was an explosive hitter when he burst onto the scene with the New York Yankees in 2016 and was thought to be their catcher of the future. 

Sanchez posted a .923 OPS with 53 home runs in his first 175 games in the Majors from 2016-2017. Since then, though, he has struggled and the Yankees traded him to the Minnesota Twins prior to last season. 

He didn’t fare any better with them, hitting .205 in 128 games. Sanchez has just turned 30 and may still have something to offer even if it might not be as number one catcher and he may have to wait his turn.

Jose Iglesias (Shortstop)

The 32-year-old has been a consistent performer over the past few seasons. 

With the Colorado Rockies in 2022 he had a .708 OPS, which was similar to what he produced in 2021 with the Los Angeles Angels and Boston Red Sox. 

In 2020, he had an excellent season with the Baltimore Orioles when he posted a .956 OPS in only 150 plate appearances. 

Defensively, Iglesias is excellent and would work well with a side looking to challenge for a Wild Card position in 2023.

Evan Longoria (Third Base)

Despite being 37 and missing significant time through injury over the past two seasons, Longoria would be an inexpensive option for someone. 

In 170 games over the past two seasons with the San Francisco Giants, the three-time All-Star and three-time Gold Glove Award winner had a .799 OPS with 27 home runs. 

The San Francisco Giants are +3300 to win the 2023 World Series.
